This series consists of two correspondence files containing papers relating to motor drivers' licences. The motor drivers' licences file includes lists of licences issued during the 1948 and 1949 calendar year and provides the name of the driver, address, licence number, date issued and fee. The list includes Albert and Oscar Namatjira on 09/07/1949. The Commonwealth drivers' licences file includes correspondence from Commonwealth departments requesting driver's licences for their employees. These letters are primarily addressed to the Officer-in-Charge at the Alice Springs Police Station or the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. The Commonwealth Departments requesting assistance include the Department of Health (Alice Springs Hospital), the Department of Civil Aviation (Government Aerodrome) and the Native Affairs Branch.
